I had been a strong performer in the team for the last 4 years. It was a well-known fact that I was in the succession list and would be considered for the next leadership role. When one of the managers in the team resigned, I was the first to apply. But then the role went to a recent external hire. Coaching helped me to voice out my feelings of disappointment and hurt. I could then plan how to work on my ‘executive presence’ that had been pointed out as an area of development for me. My coach partnered in my journey to find my self-belief and confidence. Through multiple sessions I could work on my skills & attitude. The icing on the cake was when I could land the next leadership role within the same year.
I landed my first job through the campus placement. It was a management trainee role and I was reporting to a manager who had been with the organization for 25 years. Nothing prepared me for the transition from the campus to corporate culture. From being a carefree college student one day, to a corporate executive the next day, was not an easy journey. Suddenly, I felt overwhelmed and lost in a team that was much more in age and experience. Specially my boss was very demanding and I found myself unable to adjust to his style of leadership. My coach helped me overcome my anxiety and helped me create a step-by-step plan for settling-in. Through the sessions, I could learn the essential corporate behaviors that were expected from me. Coaching helped me find myself, when I was feeling totally lost and helpless. I could easily see the gaps in my performance and plan my actions to conduct myself in a more mature way. Soon, I felt that I was respected and a well-accepted part of the team. The relationship with my boss also improved and I could finally meet his work expectations!

I was feeling very torn between wanting to stay home with my baby and wanting to explore the new technology at work. The coaching sessions helped me a lot, to clear my head of the constant chatter and negative self-talk. I could realize that I would need to prioritize and plan well, to ace both home and work. With a good support system at home, I could focus on achieving my work goals. Feeling more fulfilled and relaxed, I was able to spend quality time with my husband and little one. My coach helped me to overcome a mother’s guilt and I was able to find a solution that is making me truly happy!
